Courses
SQA Academy provides support for all those who contribute to SQA assessment and hosts specific activities such as consultations and the annual Scottish Survey of Literacy and Numeracy (SSLN). Most areas are only available to registered users enrolled on them, but some are ‘open’ courses available to anyone.
You can see everything that is on SQA Academy by selecting ‘Courses’ from the left sidebar. In the boxes below we show those areas that we anticipate to be of greatest interest at a particular time.

The Scottish Survey of Literacy and Numeracy (SSLN) is a sample-based survey which monitors performance in literacy and numeracy in alternate years. This year the main focus of the survey is literacy but there is also a numeracy pre-test taking place at the same time.
We have developed the SSLN area within SQA Academy to help schools in planning for and carrying out the survey. The SSLN area is also where you will find the Pupil Assessment Area where pupils will access the online component of the survey.

SQA Academy accounts have been set up for all schools taking part in the SSLN. If you have misplaced or not received your login information please call 0345 213 6964 or email ssln@sqa.org.uk
The first numeracy survey took place in all schools in May 2011. The report on the findings has now been published.
Based on the SSLN survey findings, Education Scotland has developed this collection of learning and teaching resources to support all those involved in the development of young people’s numeracy skills.

These e-materials have been developed with support from the European Social Fund (ESF).
SQA, working in partnership with Scotland's Colleges and other centres, developed web-based materials for a number of high uptake National Certificates and National Progression Awards. These resources are designed to support learners and to help tutors when delivering these qualifications.
We will be re-running the online professional development workshops (PDWs) in Maths and Psychology Research Investigation. When we ran this before they proved to be very popular and the course evaluation was extremely high as can be seen here.
